An'an stood at the entrance of the kindergarten, clutching his little backpack. Inside, he felt tight, like he was holding a crumpled cloud.
He slowly walked in and first touched the soft paintbrushes. The sweet smell of wood made him feel both nervous and curious to look around more.
He looked at the bubbling sink. The bright colors and the splashing water sounds made him stop in his tracks.
Little cars rolled back and forth on the ground, and he reached out to grab one. Suddenly, the little car zoomed away.
The little car bumped into a tower of blocks, and the blocks tumbled down into a small mountain. He shrank back, but then he noticed a big “shoe” stuck to his foot.
He stepped in the “block shoe” and walked with a patter to the edge of the mat, gently pushing the little car. The soft mat was warm, and on his first day, he began to walk slowly.
