A sudden wave crashed, and small pebbles tumbled chaotically over the coral reef. Chenyu, frightened, quickly dove into the seaweed, leaving only a small part of his tail visible. In the distance, his father said sternly, "Why are you hiding again?" Chenyu softly replied, "Oh."
Chenyu slowly swam out. Suddenly, a little dolphin named Lan popped out from behind the coral, wearing a crooked little seashell on its head. Lan smiled and said, "Look, do I look like a singing stone?" Chenyu couldn't help but smile a little too.
Lan pulled Chenyu to play "Jump Through the Hoops." The first time, when Chenyu saw a shadow flash by, he quickly shrank back. The second time, swaying seaweed blocked the way. The third time, he bumped right into a soft school of fish, and they scattered with a splash. Lan didn't laugh; instead, he flicked his tail and said, "Let's try again." Listening to the tinkling sound of shells, Chenyu slowly swam a little further.
Suddenly, the sky darkened. An underwater storm swept in with swirling sand, making the coral branches sway wildly. As soon as Lan turned around, his tail got pinned under a rolling boulder. With a sharp cry, Lan shouted, "Chenyu, don't come over!" In the swirling sand fog, Chenyu stared hard at the gray stone.
Chenyu gritted his teeth and pushed through the rushing water. He bumped his head against the boulder once, twice, three times. Finally, with the help of a strong wave, the gray stone was finally pushed aside! The sand clouded his vision, and Lan sprang out to hug Chenyu. Chenyu, panting, first pushed Lan toward the safety of the coral cave.
The storm had passed. Sunlight streamed into the clear water. Chenyu and Lan swam out of the coral cave side by side, with Lan's little seashell still wobbling on his head. Lan nudged Chenyu and said, "Come on, today it's your turn to lead." Chenyu looked at the seaweed ahead, didn’t hide, and gently swished his tail, swimming to the front.
