At the table, Niblet looked at crunchy carrots, bright peas, and one strange green vegetable from the garden.
Niblet pushed the green piece away with one small paw. "Nope. Not that." Clink went the spoon against the bowl.
First it was offered raw. Niblet turned away and shut his mouth tight.
Then it was steamed. Still no.
Then it was chopped into little circles. Niblet tapped the table. Thump-thump-thump.
The warm garden smell drifted in through the open window.
Niblet slipped outside to the sunny garden and peered at the green vegetable growing on the vine.
A bumblebee bumped past. One funny little vegetable twisted loose and dropped right onto Niblet's foot. "Oh!"
Niblet picked it up, brushed off the dirt, and took one tiny bite.
Snap! Niblet stopped and chewed.
Then Niblet took a bigger bite. "Wait... this is good!"
Niblet ran back to the cozy house with the last green slice in one paw.
"Can I have more?" Niblet asked.
Soon the bowl was full again, and Niblet crunched happily as golden squares of sunlight stretched across the table.
