At the playground, Shellyn stopped at the bottom of the tall new slide.
WHOOSH! Kids zipped down, one after another.
The shiny ladder seemed to reach right up to the clouds.
From the first step, a friend waved. "Just one tiny step, Shellyn!"
Shellyn lifted one foot onto step one.
Then plop. Back onto the wood chips. Crunch crunch.
"Good," said the friend. "Now touch step two."
Step two. Step three.
A gust blew through the slide. HooOOO!
A leaf skittered past, landed on the slide, and zipped down fast.
Shellyn giggled and reached for the next bar.
At the top, the whole playground spread out below like a toy town.
Shellyn crouched tight. "Tiny step," she whispered.
One small push. WHOOOOSH!
Shellyn popped out at the bottom in a puff of wood chips.
The paper hat landed right on her shell. Shellyn laughed.
Up she went again, tapping the ladder with a sure little foot.
At the top, Shellyn called, "Again!"
