being small helps too

In the little park of the neighborhood, the ball disappeared under the slide. "Ah, you are too small to help," someone said. Pitica Luz stopped, heard the creaking of the swing, and knelt down to peek at the sand.

She lay on her side and stuck her arm into the narrow gap. The ball was stuck behind a forgotten cart. Pitica Luz pulled out just a little blue shovel, blew off the dust, and saw a tiny sparkle on the ground. "If I can't get it from above, I'll get it from below."

Crawling into the corner, Pitica Luz pushed the cart with the shovel. Then she pulled the ball with the tip of her foot. Plop! She opened a smile. But at the morning market, a bunch of green onions was already slipping under a stall.

At the market, Pitica Luz squeezed into the space between the crates. She followed the green leaves and a shiny cap that no one had seen. Then she found the green onions. Next to them was a squeezed rubber duck. "Quack!" Pitica Luz almost laughed and raised her arm with both finds.

"Oh!" Close to the ground, Pitica Luz saw a row of coins rolling toward the wheel of a market cart, almost going into the drain. She bent down in an instant and slipped her fingers into the narrow gap. Clink-clink. One by one, the coins came back.

Pitica Luz returned through the colorful neighborhood with sand on her knee and a rubber duck in her hand. Now, in the little park and at the market, when something goes missing in a corner, they quickly call: "Pitica Luz!" She giggles, listens to the call mixed with the song of the birds, and squeezes into the next little space even before the request is finished.
