Nimbus beat small wings fast and shot up into the bright sky.
Up, up, up! Nimbus burst into a soft white kingdom of clouds.
Cool mist brushed Nimbus's nose. “Whoa!” laughed Nimbus.
Nimbus bounced onto a cloud. Boing! Then onto another. Boing-boing!
The fluffy steps tipped Nimbus the wrong way.
Far below, a rainbow flashed like a shiny ribbon. Nimbus squinted down at it.
Then Nimbus tucked in and dived to catch it.
Plop! Nimbus landed on the glowing rainbow.
Nimbus tried to slide. But the rainbow was so slick that Nimbus spun backward.
Red, gold, and blue light splashed over Nimbus's scales. “Eep!” said Nimbus.
Nimbus took a breath. “One more time.”
Nimbus hopped, tucked small dragon legs, and zoomed down the rainbow in a sparkling swoosh.
Wind whistled past. Nimbus whooped all the way down.
The roof below rushed closer and closer.
Nimbus skimmed off the end of the rainbow and landed with a soft plop on the hill.
The rainbow faded to a pale glow overhead. Nimbus smiled up at the cloud kingdom, ready for another ride someday.
