Pepple nosed through bright coral in the sunny cove.
"Help!" A tiny cry slipped out of a dark rock tunnel.
Bubbles tickled past Pepple's face. Pepple froze and turned to listen.
Pepple stretched his long neck into the tunnel and saw a little sea creature stuck between two rough rocks.
"It's okay," Pepple said softly. "I'll help you."
First, Pepple tried a seashell. It slipped with a clack.
Next, Pepple tugged with a strand of sea grass. It slid right out.
Then Pepple pushed a wobbly pebble with the tip of his nose. Clack! Pop!
Boink! The pebble bumped Pepple on the snout. But the little sea creature wriggled free at last.
The little sea creature pointed a tiny fin toward the twisting tunnels, and Pepple followed.
Soon three tunnel mouths yawned ahead. Each one hummed with swishy water.
Pepple almost picked the sparkling tunnel.
Then Pepple saw the little sea creature lift its head. Click, click... a faint call came from the darkest passage.
Pepple darted into the dark passage after the sound.
Pepple burst out into a sunlit cove.
A family of little sea creatures rushed through the waving grass and circled their lost one in a splash of bubbles.
"You found us," chirped the smallest voice.
Then the little sea creature proudly led Pepple along the bright way home.
