Abiel woke up. His house looked different. Shiny ribbons hung from the ceiling.
He tugged a ribbon. It unspooled all the way to the kitchen, leaving a trail of glitter and gold.
Abiel followed the ribbon past balloons, a tower of presents, and a tall cake with five candles.
He tried to climb the chair, but it wobbled. Abiel pulled it closer and gripped the edge.
A soft voice called his name. Warm hands lifted him onto someone's shoulders.
The room was full of people clapping. Someone started singing — 'Happy birthday to you!' in a bouncy tune.
Abiel leaned forward and blew hard at the candles. Whoosh! But something else happened...
Rainbow confetti rained down over everyone's heads. A blue star landed right on Abiel's nose!
Everyone cheered. Abiel laughed out loud, hopping with joy on the woman's shoulders.
Abiel sat at the table with frosting on his cheek. He shared a piece of cake with his bear.
The house glowed with paper lanterns. Confetti stars covered everything — the table, the floor, the bear's ear.
Abiel rested his head against a soft pillow, smiling at all the love around him.
