Dark had fallen over the village. Adam crept toward the mouth of the lost sun cave.
His small flashlight beam danced over ancient stones. A soft golden glow answered from the walls. The symbols suddenly shimmered.
He reached toward a glowing serpent symbol. It pulsed brighter under his fingertips. Warm like a small sun.
Adam gasped and pulled his hand back. Then he reached out again. The symbols rippled and danced at his touch.
He traced another symbol — a golden scarab. It lifted off the wall and hovered in the air before him.
The scarab settled back onto the stone with a gentle click. Every symbol on the wall blazed with light.
Ancient images swam across the stone — sailing boats, stars, and faces smiling down at Adam. He stood very still.
The cave sang a low humming sound. Adam closed his eyes and listened. He thought: I have to tell someone.
The next morning Adam ran to the village square. He pointed at a weathered stone tablet no one had looked at closely in years.
The Elder came over and tapped the tablet. For just a moment, the markings glowed.
