Adam pointed through the window at the evening sky. “Why do we pray now?” he asked, while whispers rustled behind the sofa.
Adam tiptoed toward the sofa. “What are you planning?” he asked, but two small faces vanished beneath a blanket.
The sisters zipped their lips. A tiny giggle escaped as they tucked three cushions under the blanket.
The sisters beckoned past the prayer rug. “Find the moon treasure,” they whispered. “Ask three clues—one at a time.”
“Is it near the shoes?” Adam asked. The sisters pointed toward the entryway, and the hunt began.
“Under the table?” Adam guessed next. A shake of two heads sent him beside the prayer beads.
Adam stepped backward and bumped a cushion. Pop! A wooden spoon sprang out like a magic wand.
Adam waved the spoon. The sisters burst out laughing, and their secret game tumbled open.
Inside a small bowl waited one glossy date—the moon treasure. Then the sisters joined Adam on the prayer rug for evening prayer.
Afterward, Adam shared the date with his sisters. Their spoons became moon wands again.
