Ali lifted an empty box and raced into the sunny garden. “What will fill you?” he asked. Clunk!
The box gave another hollow clunk. Ali peered inside and thought, “You need something special.”
Beneath a tree, Ali spotted three shiny apples. He gathered them carefully.
One apple dropped in. Thump! Then another. Thump! The third followed with a deep thump.
The box smelled sweet, but Ali kept searching. A tiny ant marched along the path.
Ali carefully lowered the ant into the box. It marched across an apple, and Ali giggled.
The ant scurried out again. Ali watched it vanish beneath a leaf. “Goodbye, little traveler.”
Beside the path, Ali found a wooden arrow. He slid it into the box, point up.
The arrow pointed home. Ali lifted the box. The apples wobbled, and the arrow waved like a flag.
Ali carried the full box toward home. Clunk, march, swish—the garden came along in a surprising bundle.
