Watching life grow

“Right now I’m an apple tree—wait, wait!” let's start from the beginning when I was a baby seed! I was in a growing apple when I was born.

I waited and waited and waited for something to happen. And finally ...I heard something. A crack! I heard it a few more times. Then I felt a lurch, and then we started falling!

My heart was thumping louder than ever! Then I heard a loud THUMP! After some time, I heard something... footsteps. I was scared!

Then I heard a loud CRUNCH, then I heard it a few more times. Then I heard nothing. I felt relieved, but it didn't feel like I was in an apple. Instead, it felt weird and gross. I didn't want to open my eyes.

Then when I opened my eyes hoping I wasn't in that gross place —I wasn't, I wasn't and I wasn't, but it was stinky so I held my breath.

When I woke up, I was in soil. I saw worms and other insects. I made friends with the other insects.

Then one day I felt a pinch! I looked down and I panicked. "What is happening?!" I yelled. The worms said excitedly, "You are growing roots, You are growing up!"

"When seeds fall in the soil and get everything they need at one time, they will sprout!" I was really happy to hear that. I said out loud "I am growing! I am growing!" The other insects were happy too.

Soon in a blink of an eye, my roots grew bigger and bigger and bigger! Soon my roots were huge!

I thought I was an adult, but I was wrong. After a few days I felt another pinch. "Ouch!" I said. I thought I was growing more roots, but this time the pinch was on top of me!

I looked up and I said "that does not look like a root!" The worms said "you are growing into seedling”. "Soon you will grow into a plant" said the worms and I did. Soon I was a baby plant. I saw the world.

"Wow!" I said. I saw something else new. I looked like a part of my body! Then some furry thing said "hey, I ate the apple you were in when you were a seed". "Really?" I asked. "Yes," he said. "Oh," I said.

I asked him "anyways do you know what these green things are?" He said "those, oh those are leaves. They make yummy food for you". "You are right!" I said. "I do taste yummy food!" Soon I ate more of the yummy food, I grew huge and so did my roots.

One day when I felt my stem it wasn't a stem. I asked the furry and he said "your an adult tree so you have a trunk!" he said. Soon after that many of the animals started making homes in me and out fell a little apple! So that is the life cycle of an apple seed. They start off as a seed and they grow into a tree!
