cheerful, curious, helpful

community and belonging

Arash walked down the sunny street. Colorful flags fluttered above flower-filled planters. A cool breeze carried the sound of a decorative fountain.

He stepped closer to the turquoise dome. Arash waved at a neighbor sweeping the steps. The neighbor smiled and waved back. Children laughed near the fountain.

He climbed the low stone wall and peeked through the arched gateway. Inside, tall palm trees shaded the courtyard. Tiny lanterns hung from the branches. A cat stretched on the tiles.

Arash whispered, 'It's like a dream.' He traced the blue tiled arches with his eyes. He counted the domes, then lost count, grinning.

He found new details each time — carved stone patterns, a bell chiming softly. A woman arranged flowers by the entrance. Each discovery made him want to explore again.

Arash stood in the courtyard and waved at everyone he could see. The neighbor, the children, the woman with flowers. They all waved back.

The turquoise dome glowed golden in the afternoon sun. Arash said, 'This is my neighborhood.' He felt proud and happy to call this wonderful place part of his community.

Arash turned home, his heart full. The streetlights flickered on, one by one. He knew he would return tomorrow to find even more magic.
