Arjun pushed open the bright school door in his special costume. DING! The hallway bell rang, and many new faces turned his way.
Arjun followed the painted stars down the hallway. Three doors looked exactly alike. “Which one?” he whispered.
A mop bucket squeaked beside him. SQUEAK! Arjun stepped back and peeked into the nearest room.
Inside, children sat in a circle. Arjun’s cape caught the doorknob—FWIP! He spun around as the class giggled.
Arjun waved. “I’m Arjun.” The giggles softened, and the children looked at him with curious smiles.
Arjun showed his costume badge. One child pointed to an empty seat. “Sit here, Arjun.”
Arjun walked to the empty seat and opened a box of bright crayons. He shared the colors with the child beside him.
Arjun drew a huge yellow star beside the child’s picture. Then he joined the morning song.
