Arjun stood before the white marble walls. He opened his sketchbook. 'What should I color first?' he wondered.
He colored the domes pink and blue. A sparrow hopped near his foot. It tilted its head at the crayon marks.
At the Gateway of India, the sea wind flipped his pages wildly. Arjun pressed his hand flat on the paper and hummed a steady tune.
The waves crashed against the stones with a rhythmic roar. Arjun kept humming, his eyes never leaving the sketchbook.
A peacock with shimmering feathers strutted up to the sketchbook. It tapped a claw on the lotus flower. The drawing seemed to shimmer.
Arjun grinned. 'You like that?' he thought. He colored a new blue ring around the lotus.
Arjun reached the final page. His yellow crayon snapped in two. 'Oh no,' he whispered.
He dragged the broken tip across the paper anyway. A single bright circle appeared, glowing like real sunlight.
Arjun closed his sketchbook and ran his fingers over the raised crayon lines. Every page glowed softly.
He carried the book close to his chest and walked home through the warm night.
