Barnaby squeezes into the dark wooden box.
He pulls his fuzzy ears right over his eyes.
Outside, the big tree room fills with loud chirps.
*Crash!* A fast squirrel trips over an acorn.
Red, blue, and yellow crayons roll to his toes.
Barnaby peeks out from the dark shadow.
He hops out and holds up the yellow crayon.
The squirrel takes it with a big, toothy smile.
"I am Nutmeg," she whispers, sharing a blue crayon.
They bump paws on the red one and giggle.
Barnaby and Nutmeg sit together at a little table.
They draw a giant carrot and do not hide.
