The woodland school hid among tall trees and wildflowers. Benny couldn't wait to go inside.
Benny stepped through the door with his red backpack. It was so big he felt himself shrinking inside.
He tried to play with the frogs, but they hopped away. The squirrels raced up the tree instead.
Benny sat alone on the bench with his lunchbox. He saw a little mouse on a stump nearby.
He took out his very best acorn. His paws trembled as he held it out to the mouse.
The acorn began to glow. Golden light spread outward like a ripple across the clearing.
The frogs hopped over. The squirrels tumbled down. Beetles marched in from the grass. Everyone gathered around.
Benny handed the glowing acorn to the mouse. The mouse squeaked and placed it in the center of the circle.
The light sank into the ground. The children curled up together in a warm ring.
Benny smiled. He wasn't alone anymore.
