Bibo waddled through golden leaves. Something white glowed near the mossy stump. A puffy white hat!
Bibo tipped the hat onto his head. His paws lifted right off the ground. Up, up he went!
The hat drifted upward, past ferns and branches, until the whole valley shrank below. Bibo held on tight.
Bibo reached down. His arms stretched, but the ground stayed far away. The hat wouldn't stop climbing.
Bibo grabbed a low branch. The hat pulled free. Down he tumbled — but not too far.
Far below, the fox, the rabbit, and the badger looked up. There was Bibo, floating near the clouds!
"We have to help!" barked the fox. The rabbit fetched a long ribbon. The badger piled up dry leaves.
The fox climbed the trunk. The badger pulled the ribbon tight between two branches. "Hold on, Bibo!" called the rabbit.
Bibo spotted the ribbon. He caught it with both paws. The friends pulled — gently, steadily — and down he came.
Softly, Bibo's paws touched the leaf pile. Thump. Safe. The friends gathered close.
Bibo took off the hat and held it out. It floated upward, past the branches, until it was just a white dot.
Bibo waved at the empty sky, then turned and walked back down the valley path with his friends. Crunch, crunch, crunch.
