In the quiet bedroom, Blas opened the bottom drawer. He lifted a small family photograph and said, “This is my story.” Clack!
Blas spread the photograph on the rug beside a soft blanket and a tiny baby toy. He pointed to the two smiling parents and whispered, “I remember seeing you when I was four.”
The tiny baby toy rolled away with a cheerful rattle. Blas crawled after it beneath the old chair.
When Blas lifted the toy, a folded picture popped out and flipped onto his nose. Plop! He laughed and smoothed it flat.
Blas placed both pictures beside the blanket. He told the memory aloud: “Mom reached for me, and Dad opened his arms.”
Tick-tock, tick-tock. Blas smiled at the familiar faces in the pictures and listened to the clock.
Blas tucked the pictures and toy into a special box. He folded the blanket close and carried it beside the bed.
The special box rested safely beside the bed. Blas hugged the blanket and said, “I love you, Mom and Dad.”
