Boppy stomped through the tall ferns. A bright blue butterfly fluttered ahead, landing on a sun-warmed rock.
He chased it, tumbling over a root, and followed it deeper into the meadow.
A speedy turtle rolled past. 'Race you!' it said.
Boppy charged, tripped over his own tail, and landed with a soft thud. The turtle giggled. 'You're fast in a different way!'
Boppy frowned. He thought maybe he was just silly.
A chatty bird fluttered down. 'Your scales shimmer like sunset!' Boppy tried to hide under a leaf.
The bird pecked the leaf away. 'And your little squeak-roar is the cutest!' Boppy opened his mouth. 'Squeak!' came out. He covered his face.
A sudden gust of wind swept through the meadow. A giant leaf tumbled toward Boppy. He couldn't move fast enough.
The turtle and bird and frog all tried to help but couldn't reach him. Boppy's unique squeak-roar echoed.
The sound startled a flock of pterodactyls. They swooped down and caught the leaf, carrying it away. Boppy stared.
The creatures cheered. 'Your unique sound saved us!' Boppy's tail wiggled. He let out a happy squeak.
Boppy walked home through the meadow. His spotsshine, his tail wiggled, his squeak-roar echoed. The butterfly landed on his nose. He smiled. He is Boppy. And that is enough.
