The sun shone over the forest village. Bram trotted toward the cozy schoolhouse, his nose twitching with curiosity.
Bram stopped at the schoolhouse door. There it was — the letter B! 'B!' he shouted, pointing his paw.
'Berries! Bees! Bridges! B, B, B!' He trotted through the village, his small paw tapping every letter he saw.
At the forest edge, his friends waited. The fox held an empty plate. The rabbit hopped in place. Their picnic baskets were all empty.
'Our picnic baskets are all empty,' said the fox. Bram tilted his head. 'B?' he asked hopefully.
Bram spotted something big and blue behind the schoolhouse. 'B!' he yelled. The big blue basket!
He pulled the basket with his teeth and tugged with his paws, but it wouldn't budge. It was stuck fast against the bush.
The friends watched from nearby, their ears drooping. Then Bram noticed a narrow tunnel under the bush. 'Wait!' he called.
Bram squeezed through the tunnel. Inside, he saw the problem — the basket was caught on a thick root!
'B!' he grunted, pushing hard with his shoulders. The basket popped free and tumbled forward.
The basket rolled right into the waiting paws of the fox. The friends cheered! Their picnic was saved!
Bram sat beside the big blue basket, now filled with fresh berries. The fox handed him one. 'For you,' she said.
