Brooklyn zipped her jacket and grabbed her red backpack. Snoopy wagged his tail so fast his whole body wiggled. They burst out the front door into bright sunshine.
The cinema sign blinked bright. Inside, Brooklyn held up two buckets of buttery popcorn. She tipped one toward Snoopy and he nibbled a piece right from her fingers.
A single kernel slid off the counter and landed on Snoopy's nose. He sneezed it straight onto Brooklyn's shoe. She looked down and laughed out loud.
Next stop: the riding stable. A big brown horse sniffed Brooklyn's palm. She offered it an apple slice, and the horse crunch-dronched it loud and slow.
Snoopy barked encouragement, hopping from paw to paw. Brooklyn climbed onto the horse's back, her legs trembling just a little.
The horse trotted forward. Snoopy jogged right alongside them, ears flapping in the wind. Brooklyn laughed out loud, her arms wide.
They walked back home as the sun dipped low. Brooklyn's hair was dusty and Snoopy's paws were muddy. She flopped onto her bed and Snoopy curled up at her feet.
They both closed their eyes, smiling. Tomorrow would be another adventure.
