Bunny hops through the bright green forest. He holds a shiny red apple tight in his paws. He can hardly wait to take a bite.
The apple slips from his paws and rolls away. Bunny chases it fast, but it vanishes behind a bush. Only a tiny crumb remains on the moss.
Bunny digs through the leaves with his nose twitching. The apple is gone. Then he hears a soft rustle behind him.
He looks up. A small squirrel sits by a tree staring sadly at the ground. Bunny's ears droop as he looks down at his tiny crumb.
The squirrel's tummy rumbles softly. Bunny holds the crumb close, then breaks it in half. He offers the bigger piece to the little squirrel.
The squirrel takes the crumb with soft grateful paws. They sit together as the last crumbs disappear into tiny chewing jaws.
Golden light filters through the green leaves above them. The forest smells sweeter than any apple ever did.
Bunny hops home with empty paws but a bright smile. His heart is full and happy.
The path seems greener. The breeze feels warmer. Bunny knows he'll find another apple tomorrow.
But not before sharing it first.
