Pippa Plum plopped a little potty in the bathroom. “I’m ready to try!” she said.
She sat down and listened. Her toes wiggled above the cool tile. Drip-drip went the sink.
After breakfast, Pippa practiced again. After playtime, she tried again. Before bed, she gave it another try.
Sometimes she got there in time.
And sometimes—oops—a little slip landed in her underpants.
“I need help!” called Pippa Plum. Nearby, the washing machine swished and swished.
One day, Pippa noticed it was time to go. She raced from the playroom to the bathroom.
But halfway there, a tower of blocks began to tumble. Clatter-crash!
Pippa laughed at the silly mess.
Then she hurried on and tried again. Her feet pattered fast on the hall rug.
That night, Pippa built one last block castle before bed.
Suddenly, she dropped the shiny blue block and dashed to the potty all by herself.
The house was very still for one tiny moment.
Then Pippa heard the best sound—plink!
She popped up with a wide grin. “I did it!”
Later, Pippa helped pack away the diapers and pulled on big-kid underpants.
She waved goodbye before climbing into bed.
Down the hall, the bathroom light glowed soft and yellow. Pippa snuggled under the blanket, smiling and ready for tomorrow.
