A little rabbit froze, a purple carrot dangling from his mouth. Shadows stretched over the garden as three little boys burst through the gate.
He bolted, zig-zagging between the cabbages. His white tail twitched fast. Suddenly, he tripped over a garden hose!
He tumbled into a patch of soft clover near the fence. Oh no! That hurt!
The boys caught up, their hands on their knees, puffs of breath escaping them. The little rabbit stood up slowly.
He held out the stolen carrot with a tiny, apologetic squeak.
The tallest boy smiled, wiping dirt from his jeans. 'No worries, little guy!' he said.
They sat in the warm sun, pulling bright orange carrots from the earth.
Crunching loudly, the little rabbit's ears perked straight up again. He thought, 'This is fun!'
