A golden meadow stretched wide under a warm blue sky. Wildflowers danced in the breeze.
Caspian trotted down the wildflower path. His white coat gleamed in the sunlight.
On the picnic stone sat a tiny field mouse. She dropped her clover leaf like a flag.
The mouse froze. Caspian's hooves went very still too.
He bent down and picked up a plump blueberry. He nudged it toward her.
She dragged the berry to her burrow and pulled the stone-flap shut. Soft thump.
The stone was quiet now. Caspian paced three times around it.
He leaned close and whispered hello. The stone-flap trembled.
It lifted slowly. Tiny whiskers poked out first.
Caspian sat very quietly. The mouse scurried out and took the blueberry.
She placed a golden seed in his hoof. Then she nibbled it quick as thanks.
The creek sparkled. They sat side by side in the warm grass.
