Clara walked along the park path. Crunch, crunch, went her shoes through the golden leaves. A bright giggle rang out from somewhere ahead.
Whoosh! The child on the swings kicked her legs up high. Creak. Whoosh. Creak.
Clara's fingers loosened from her belt. She kept watching, and watching, and watching.
A gust of wind flipped Clara's wide sailor collar right over her face! She sputtered and pushed it back. The child giggled again.
Clara smiled as the sun warmed her cheek.
Clara sat on the wooden bench and watched the child swing. Up, down, up, down.
"Time to go!" called a woman from near the swings.
The child whooped and jumped off!
Clara stood up. She stretched her arms high above her head.
Clara walked home with a light step.
