Eirik stood at the edge of the fjord. Dark oil drifted toward the shore. The water shimmered with rainbow colours.
A boat engine sputtered behind him. He turned and walked quickly toward town. The dark patch kept growing.
He ran home and opened a book on his tablet. Pollution hurts the fish and plants. A seagull called from the windowsill.
The seagull hopped down and pecked at a bottle cap near his shoe. Then it looked up at him with bright black eyes.
He picked up the bottle cap. He would clean the fjord.
He dragged the big blue bucket to the beach. 'Let's clean this up!' he called. One family stopped. Then another.
Together they filled the bucket. The water shone cleaner as the sun broke through the clouds. People smiled.
Eirik stood beside the fjord. The seagull dove and splashed in the clear water. The whole fjord sparkled in the afternoon light.
