The preschool classroom glowed with warm morning light. Elliot pressed close to his mom's leg. Tiny red shoes marched across the floor.
Elliot's ears flattened. He hid behind the tall leg in front of him. The red shoes stopped just out of reach.
One step. Then another. Elliot's foot touched the sun-warmed floor.
CRUNCH! A loud sound came from the bookshelf. Elliot's trunk twitched. He stepped right back.
Elliot peeked around the leg again. A fluffy white bunny hopped into view, holding an orange carrot.
Want a crunch? the bunny squeaked. Elliot's trunk uncurled just a little.
Elliot reached out and took the carrot. His trunk brushed the bunny's paw. A paper airplane swooped down!
The paper airplane landed right on Elliot's head. He giggled as the ceiling fan cast dancing shadows around him.
Elliot stepped fully into the room. He found a cozy reading nook in the corner with soft cushions everywhere.
Elliot settled into a cushion with his carrot. The bunny companion hopped over and sat right beside him.
School is crunchy, Elliot whispered. He took another big bite of the carrot.
The bunny nibbled too. Together they sat in the sunny corner, crunching quietly.
