Finn stepped into the wild meadow. Something shimmered ahead — a golden line crawling across the grass. "What are you?" he whispered.
He crouched down and followed it. The line zigzagged through the flowers, leading him forward. His shoes crunched softly on the dry path.
The line disappeared under a bush. Finn peeked around the branches — but it was gone. He stared at the empty grass and frowned.
He knelt in the grass, hands on his knees, and waited. Nothing moved. The meadow felt very quiet.
Finn stood up and kept walking. The golden line flickered back into view, just ahead. He followed it past smooth grey stones and up a small hill.
The meadow ended at an old stone wall covered in ivy. Beneath it, a narrow gap let the light through. "In there," Finn thought.
Finn squeezed through the gap. On the other side was a forgotten garden. The golden line vanished at the base of a tall pale flower.
He reached out to touch it. But his fingers passed right through the petals. They looked like tissue paper, barely there.
The flower shivered. Something whispered from behind the petals. "Hello?" Finn called softly.
Finn slowly parted the petals. A tiny creature with wide eyes peeked out and smiled. Finn grinned back. "Hi," it whispered. The garden felt alive again.
