Flutter landed softly on a white daisy. She watched a tiny ant march by, carrying a crumb twice his size.
Flutter fluttered her wings, trying to lift the crumb. But she was too light — she tipped over and tumbled onto a leaf.
'How do you carry all that?' she asked. The ant paused and looked back.
The ant pointed to his six legs. 'These carry,' he said.
'These fly,' Flutter said. She flexed her wings in the warm sun.
The ant hopped onto her wing. Flutter took off, buzzing past pink flowers and bright green leaves.
Flutter dipped low to pick a petal, but her tiny feet couldn't grip it. The ant tried flapping his legs — and just wobbled.
They both looked at their own body parts. Neither quite understood.
A strong breeze swept through the garden. It tugged at Flutter hard, nearly spinning her away.
The ant grabbed a leaf edge with all six legs. Flutter caught him and lifted him to safety.
Flutter landed gently. The ant bumped his antennae against her wing. 'My wings carry you,' she said.
'My legs carry us,' the ant said. They sat together on a warm leaf, watching the flowers sway.
