The garage door rolls up with a loud RATTLE. Freddy’s wheels roll forward before the boy reaches the handle.
The boy laughs and grabs Freddy’s handlebars. Sunlight stretches across the dusty floor, pointing outside.
The boy pushes Freddy down the path, then hops on. Soon, the tires hum beneath the morning sky.
Freddy zips past a mailbox. DING-DING! The boy waves as the morning air whooshes by.
A loose paper bag flies across the road and lands over Freddy’s handlebars. The boy squeezes the brakes.
Leaves tickle Freddy’s blue frame. “Whoa! Not that way!” says the boy.
The boy lifts away the paper bag. A tiny rubber ball pops out and bounces into the street.
Freddy rolls after the ball, bumping over a crack—BOING! The boy pedals faster.
The ball hops once more. Then it lands neatly in Freddy’s basket.
Freddy and the boy coast back toward the little garage. The ball stays safely tucked in the basket.
DING-DING! The boy pats Freddy’s handlebars as they reach the garage.
The garage door opens wide. Freddy waits inside for the next funny ride.
