Luna crouched by the old oak tree. Her fingers found a small wooden door in the bark. It creaked open, spilling warm golden light onto her knees.
Luna crawled through the narrow tunnel. The bark walls closed in around her, soft and warm. She squeezed through and tumbled into a tiny room.
The room was small, with walls covered in thick velvet moss. A cluster of mushrooms glowed soft blue, one by one, until the whole room shimmered. Luna gasped and clapped.
Behind a toadstool, something silver peeked out. Two black eyes blinked slowly in the blue glow.
Luna reached into her pocket and pulled out a piece of apple. She held it out slowly. The creature crept forward, sniffing, then took a tiny bite.
The creature tugged gently at Luna's sleeve and led her through another tunnel. This one opened into a wide glowing meadow.
Fireflies danced above the dewy grass. Luna walked on tiptoes, careful not to step on the tiny lights.
Luna and the silver creature sat on a warm stone. A bright green shooting star streaked across the sky. "I'll come back tomorrow," Luna whispered.
