Luna found a shiny blue feather on the ground. She picked it up and held it to her ear. "Hello?" she whispered. The feather wiggled.
Luna walked through the park calling, "Hello?" But the feather stayed quiet. She tried talking to a squirrel, and it chattered and ran off.
Luna sat by the pond and sighed. A frog hopped over and croaked. Luna held up the feather and asked if it spoke feather.
Luna followed the frog to a tree. A little bird sat there with a tangled wing, chirping sadly.
Luna gently used the blue feather to comb through the bird's tangled feathers. Slowly, the knots loosened.
The bird shook itself free and sang a loud, happy song. Luna clapped her hands and laughed.
The bird fluttered down and landed on Luna's shoulder. It tilted its head and chirped, "Friend?"
Luna smiled and nodded. The bird chirped happily and hopped onto a nearby branch, singing again.
Together they hopped and fluttered across the park. The bird trilled from branch to branch, and Luna chased after with the blue feather held high.
They left a trail of blue feathers behind them all the way home. Luna knew the feather really could talk — it spoke friend.
