Hamdan pushed two chairs together and pulled the big blue blanket over the top. "Look, Hamza! We're making a house!"
Hamza clapped his hands and babbled happily. The blanket settled with a soft swoosh over the chairs.
But then the blanket slipped. The roof collapsed into a crumpled heap on the floor.
Hamdan stared at the fallen blanket and let out a long sigh. His shoulders dropped.
He pushed the chairs back up and draped the blanket over them again. This time it sagged too low to crawl through.
Hamdan poked his head under the blanket — and got stuck for a second.
Hamza toddled over and dropped his shiny red toy car into the opening with a cheerful clatter.
Hamdan picked up the red car and set it inside the fort like a welcome mat. "Thank you," he whispered.
Hamdan crawled through the opening and sat down beside Hamza inside the house.
The house was just big enough for both of them. Hamdan smiled at his little brother.
He rested his head on Hamza's shoulder and stayed there. Being the best big brother felt just right.
The blanket house glowed in the afternoon light. It was the best house ever.
