Ayla flips open the big photo album and gasps. A picture shows Mummy and Daddy standing together under a bright red umbrella in the rain.
"Is that you?" Ayla whispers, tracing the two smiling faces with her finger.
Ayla's eyes travel to the next photo and she points. "Where is Evie?" she asks.
Mummy and Daddy exchange a look full of quiet happiness.
One day Ayla finds a tiny yellow shoe sitting alone on a shelf, too small for her feet at all.
She holds it gently with both hands while her whole face lights up.
A nurse wraps something small and swaddled in a soft blanket and carries it toward Ayla's sleepy eyes.
Ayla reaches her tiny arms out and lets out the happiest squeal ever.
Ayla climbs onto the bed between Mummy and Daddy, holding the blanketed bundle close.
Everyone stays still and perfectly cozy as the house feels completely, wonderfully right.
