Maya marched into the kitchen. Her eyes locked on the cookie jar on the top shelf. "I DO IT MYSELF!"
The cookie jar glinted in the sunlight. Just out of reach.
Maya stood on her tiptoes and stretched. The jar stayed just out of reach. She huffed and stomped her foot.
Maya hopped once. Twice. Three times. The jar didn't move.
Maya slumped to the floor. She crossed her arms. "Hmph."
Then Maya spotted it — the tall step stool by the pantry. Her eyes lit up.
Scrape, scrape. Maya dragged the step stool over. She climbed up.
With one big happy hop, her fingers closed around the cookie jar lid. It popped open — click!
Maya pulled out a cookie and took a giant crunch.
She held it up and beamed. "I DID it!" The sunlight warmed her whole face.
