Ignatius chased his runaway hat down the mossy slope. He stopped, gasping, and grinned as it landed with a soft plop in a flower clearing. From behind the blooms, three pairs of golden eyes blinked back.

Ignatius stepped forward with his arms open. The dragons hissed and scattered, their scales clicking like pebbles. His wild hair caught on a low branch, tangling him.

He plucked a bright blue flower and held it out. A gust of wind swept through the valley, lifting his hair into a billowing cloud that hummed softly. The dragons paused, ears perking up.

One dragonling leaped toward him but tripped over a root and tumbled into a shallow stream. Ignatius lunged forward, his hair dipping into the water. The water clung to his strands, and suddenly his hair began to glow with tiny sparkling lights.

The glowing lights in his hair guided the dragonling out of the stream. Ignatius reached down and gently lifted it toward the bank.

The dragons gathered around him, nudging his glowing hair with their snouts. He laughed and brushed a dragon's scales.

His hat sat crooked on his head. The valley hummed with happy dragon sounds.

The end.
