Discovering and caring for animals

Isabella pushed through the tall green gates. The zoo was full of wonderful things!

A tall giraffe lowered its spotted head. Crunch, crunch went the leaves.

Isabella followed the winding path. Black and white stripes appeared up ahead!

The zookeeper handed her the green bowl. 'Try a leaf,' she said.

Isabella held out a leaf. The zebra sniffed it and walked away. She frowned.

Next came the capybara pool. Isabella made silly munching noises. Chomp, chomp!

One capybara waddled close and took the apple. Splash! Water flew everywhere.

Isabella giggled. Those capybaras liked the noise! She hopped to the next place.

She peeked into the tunnel. 'Hello?' she whispered. But the prairie dogs vanished.

Isabella tilted her head and listened hard. Then she let out a soft chirp.

One by one, tiny noses popped up. Twitch, twitch. They liked her chirp!

Isabella walked home humming a chirp, a crunch, and a happy splash. The sun warmed her shoulders.
