Jadori looked up. The brightest star blinked once—and was gone.
He grabbed his lantern, map, rope, and compass. 'I'll find you,' he whispered. He raced toward the sparkling river.
Along the river, tiny sparkles led the way. Glitter, glitter, glitter—straight to the old castle.
A loose map flapped into his face—floop! Jadori laughed. Then he spotted the trail past the snowy peaks.
Jadori climbed the mountain path. The little bridge wobbled over the rushing water below.
He tied the rope to steady the bridge. At the end, a dark cave waited beneath the thundering waterfall.
Jadori stepped into the cave. Between two rocks, something small and blue blinked weakly.
'It's alright,' Jadori said softly. He shared his lantern light and lifted the star free. Ping.
Jadori carried the star up the cliff path, past the castle, to the highest point above the water.
He raised his arms. 'Go home,' he said. The star zoomed upward—faster, brighter, blinding!
The star settled into the sky, shining brighter than ever. It painted everything in silver light.
Jadori waved. The star winked back. The valley slept in silver.
