Jenny walked into the backyard. The green grass sparkled under the warm sun.
Jenny stopped at the edge of the driveway. She pointed toward the car. "Do you know who he is?" she asked.
The other girl squinted at the man. "That is your dad?"
Jenny nodded. She stepped closer to the car. Her dad wiped his hands on a rag.
"She's new," Jenny's dad said. "New friends are good," the other girl whispered.
Jenny lifted the lid of the metal toolbox. She took Setareh's hand.
Jenny pulled out a shiny silver wrench. She held it up between them.
"You can hold this too," Jenny said. Setareh gripped the wrench tight.
Her eyes went wide. The two of them leaned over the car together.
They sat on the curb, legs swinging. Her dad called, "Lunch!"
They scrambled up. Hands bumping, they ran toward the house together.
The sun went down. Tomorrow, they would fix the car together.
