love, kindness, and sharing

Jesus stepped into the sunlit field and spread his arms wide. The children gathered close, their sandals kicking up dust. "Listen," he said, pointing to the rolling hills. "God's love is as wide as these hills."

He knelt and took Mira's small hand in his. "And it's as close as a friend's hand." A butterfly landed on his shoulder. The children gasped, then giggled.

The boy held out his hand toward the butterfly. "Like this?" he asked. The butterfly flew away. His hand stayed empty.

The children ran home, their feet drumming on the dusty path. On the way, Old Samuel's basket tipped over. Olives rolled everywhere.

Mira stopped. She bent down and picked up an olive, placing it gently in his palm. "God's love is wide," she said. His mouth opened, then he smiled.

The boy found a little girl crying by the well. He didn't know what to do, so he sat beside her. He pulled a smooth stone from his pocket.

He handed her the stone. She squeezed it. Her crying slowed. She looked at him and nodded.

"Close," she whispered. "Like a friend's hand." The boy smiled and sat beside her. The sun dipped below the hills.

That evening, the village glowed with warm light. Children passed bread to neighbors and helped carry water.

At the doorways, they shared toys and stories. The whole village moved together like one family.

Jesus stood at the edge of the field and watched. A firefly landed on his finger. He smiled.

The village lights shimmered below. Somewhere, a child laughed. The young man and teacher watched, and the firefly glowed softly on his hand.
