Jim Bob stepped out of his log house. He wrapped his neck around a warm, spotted stem. A red cap plopped onto his head!
He shook his head — it was a perfect tiny hat! No bigger than his hoof. He tucked it under his arm.
Jim Bob wanted to know where the hat had fallen from. He stretched his neck toward the tall mushroom.
The stem was too thick to climb. He hopped once, twice, three times. The hat stayed on the ground.
He dragged a pinecone to the base and climbed up. The hat wobbled but didn't budge. He slid down in a puff of dirt.
Just then, a ladybug crawled out from under the hat. 'Thank you for the ride!' it chirped.
The ladybug zoomed onto his nose. 'You're just the right size,' it chirped, then flew away.
Jim Bob wrapped his neck around the warm stem again. A beetle scuttled by — he offered it a ride.
