GLOMP! A great fish gulped Jonah down. He splashed into its dark, echoing belly.
Water dripped from the slippery walls. “God, please forgive me,” Jonah called into the dark.
Jonah folded his hands and prayed again. The fish rumbled like a giant drum.
He waited quietly instead of running away. The deep rumble rolled on through the watery darkness.
“I will obey God,” Jonah promised. He nodded once and held still.
HIC! The fish gave a mighty hiccup. Jonah bumped gently against floating seaweed.
The fish opened its mouth and sent Jonah flying. He landed beside foamy waves under a bright sky.
Jonah blinked at the bright sky. “I have another chance,” he whispered.
Jonah stood and wiped sand from his clothes. Then he walked toward the sea to obey God.
Behind him, the great fish splashed once—SPLASH! Jonah kept going.
