Joyce ran to the backyard and stopped.
Her favorite birdhouse lay in pieces on the grass.
A blue feather floated down and landed on her shoe.
Joyce picked up a piece and held it to the nail. It wouldn't stay.
She tried a different piece. It fell.
Errol arrived with a hammer.
Mom brought nails. Dad brought glue. Everyone held a piece.
Joyce put the roof on last. It wobbled.
Then — CLICK. It stood up straight.
A blue bird landed on the roof and tilted its head at Joyce.
She grinned and pointed at Errol.
The bird chirped once and flew away.
