The classroom hummed with the ordinary sounds of morning. Crayons clicked, chairs squeaked, and sunlight spilled across the painted floor. The young boy sat at his desk, waiting.

The teacher walked over and placed something on his desk. It was a notebook — its gold cover gleamed like a coin dropped in sunlight. He opened it. The first page was blank. His pencil began to move.

Page after page filled up — dragons with zigzag wings, rockets with flame trails, castles with tower spires. His pencil scratched and scratched. When he drew a dragon, he whispered 'pffft,' and the whole class turned.

He showed the notebook to the girl in the red shirt. She leaned in close. On the page, the dragon's painted eye blinked. Her crayon tumbled from her fingers and rolled across the floor.

Soon the whole class was gathered around his desk. 'Draw something else,' someone said. He thought for a moment, then drew a key — round handle, teeth like little mountains, shining gold.

He finished the last line. A door appeared in the classroom wall — a real door, with a golden handle and light spilling through the cracks. Everyone gasped.

The young boy turned the golden handle. The door swung open, and a breeze of warm, sweet-smelling air drifted into the classroom. His classmates stepped forward, one by one.

One by one, they disappeared through the door — laughing, calling back, then gone. The boy stood alone for a moment. Then he closed the notebook, and the door vanished.

The next morning, the boy opened his notebook before the bell. A window appeared on the page, and through it, they could see a garden full of flying flowers. The class cheered.

Every morning became the same. The bell rang for recess, but the boy kept his notebook open. The adventure inside never stopped — there was always room for one more page.

The teacher walked past his desk and paused. She looked at the open page, then at the boy. She smiled, shook her head, and kept walking.

That afternoon, the last page was filled. The boy closed the cover. The notebook went quiet — but not for long. Tomorrow, he knew, the pencil would begin again.
