Karim opened his brand-new notebook with both hands. Blank white pages waited inside.
He grabbed his favorite blue crayon and drew a big smiling sun on the first page.
The crayon scratched and swished across the paper. Karim could not stop grinning.
He filled page after page with starships, talking cats, and a frog who loved to read.
The notebook grew heavy and thick. The pages started to ruffle at the edges.
At school, Karim wrote down every new word the teacher said.
On the last page, he drew a tiny dragon curling up in the margin.
The dragon's eyes blinked. Karim gasped and leaned closer.
The dragon wiggled its tail. Then it hopped off the page and landed on Karim's desk with a soft tap.
It sneezed a tiny puff of glittery smoke, then curled up and fell asleep on his warm palm.
That night, Karim placed his dragon on the nightstand and opened the notebook one more time.
A fresh blank page waited for him. Tomorrow, there would be something new to draw.
