Kosi slapped the alphabet chart. “A, B, C!” The letters wobbled across the colorful classroom wall.
Ding! The bright classroom bell rang. Kosi pointed straight to A and listened for the first sound.
Kosi traced A, B, and C in the sand. Shh-shh! One letter flipped upside down.
Kosi turned the tray around and tried again. A was for apple, B was for ball, and C was for cup.
Kosi waved and said, “Good morning!” Then Kosi counted one, two, three blocks before sorting crayons by color.
Clatter! The yellow crayon rolled under a desk. Kosi crawled after it and found a book, pencil, and bag.
Kosi held up the book. “This is a book. I read. I write. I sit.” The fan whooshed overhead.
Kosi named the family cards: mother, father, baby. Then Kosi acted out reading, writing, and sitting.
Kosi held up the last card. “Goodbye!” Suddenly, colorful paper letters burst into the air.
Kosi caught A, B, and C, then counted the paper pieces and named their colors. Ding! The bell rang again.
