Leo the lion slept in the tall golden grass. The sun was warm. The savanna was quiet.
Out of the grass came a tiny mouse. He tripped, tumbled, and landed right in the lion's messy mane.
ROAR! The lion's eyes flew open. But then he blinked, saw the trembling mouse, and slowly opened his big paw.
The mouse squeaked and ran as fast as he could, disappearing into the tall grass. The lion watched him go and lay back down. Maybe tomorrow would be a good day.
WHOOSH — a heavy net dropped from above! The lion pulled and tugged but could not break free.
The mouse appeared at the edge of the net. His little ears twitched. He was scared — but he did not run away.
Snap! Snap! Snap! The mouse bit and chewed through the thick ropes. One by one they gave way, until the whole net fell apart.
The lion stood free. He lowered his big head and nuzzled the little mouse. One careful lick, and the mouse's whiskers trembled. They stood together in the golden grass.
