Leo stood beside the clear stream and dropped a smooth gray stone. Glug!
The stone sank through the shining water. Squeaks twitched his tail and scolded, “Water, why?”
Leo wandered beside the old stone ruins and found a flat green leaf. He held it over the stream.
Squeaks watched from a root. Leo set the leaf down. Bob, bob! It stayed afloat.
Near the ruins, Leo found an acorn and squeezed it tight. He dropped it. Plunk!
The acorn shot straight down. Squeaks waved his bushy tail and scolded, “Down again!”
Leo grinned and marched toward the vine-covered cave. What would float next?
A long hollow stick peeked from the moss. Leo dragged it to the stream and shoved it in.
The stick bobbed and wobbled. It stayed on top! Squeaks sprang onto it.
The stick tilted. Splash! Leo laughed out loud as Squeaks bounced again.
Leo and Squeaks carried their floating treasures to a flat stone near the cave. They made a neat pile.
Squeaks dropped the gray stone on top. Glug! It sank through everything.
The gray stone landed at the bottom. Leo and Squeaks looked at each other.
They squeezed their paws together. The stream whispered, “Glug.”
